We had fine dining Japanese at Kuriya Restaurant in Singapore priced at SGD$150++ per pax. It was my 1st time eating so many dishes at a go.
This is our menu
I enjoyed the sea urchin but not so much on the jelly part...
The sashimi was average and I have tasted better at Kinpachi and Aoyama The Green Room...
The tuna belly was delicious but the seaweed soaked in vinegary sauce was another story...
The Fugu (puffer fish) and vege tempura was delicious...although a lil oily...
The Gindara (cod fish)...hrmmm..I prefer my cod fish steamed...
This is another of my favorite dishes...I love the beancurd skin wrapped thingy and the smoked duck breast..
By the time this was served, I was too stuffed to eat it eventhough they came with my favorite Ikura...awwww...
Delicious Japanese Seasonal Fruits. They were so yummy and the waitress was so kind to accomodate my wishes of wanting to capture the un-cut fruits. The Muskmelon cost around SGD120, the apple cost around SGD20!
It was a good meal overall :)

Bunny Eats At Kinpachi in ss17, Subang Jaya
Hunny brought Bunny for our belated Valentines Day Dinner at Kinpachi Japanese Restaurant in ss17, Subang Jaya. It's located at the turn off road to the Shell and Esso station opposite the Wisma Consplant (next to Subang Parade). I have seen that place since i studied in a college in Subang Jaya many years ago and it has survived all through these years.
Hunny ordered a Hokkai Sashimi Moriase Set which came with 3 slices of fresh salmon, fresh sweet succulent scallop and 2 roe rich prawns with sweeet sweeeet flesh...very yummy ...RM58.00
Hunny then recommended the porkchop or tonkatsu as he said it don't taste like local pork...RM30. It came looking non oily...it was crisp on the outside and succulently tender on the inside and it most certainly did not have that tell-tale porky smell...I wonder wat they did to it....
Hunny's Maki Set came....it was a huge portion and real sushi grade rice was used...some Japanese restaurants like Kiku Zakura uses normal rice but charge exhorbidant prices...Hunny was full after finishing this.
Next came my Nabeyaki Udon noodles. I wasn't expecting such a huge claypot of noodles as other places serve smaller portions for that price or even more expensive...! This cost RM17. The broth was clear and tasty and came with a chockful of veges, some chicken meat and a tempura prawn. The udon noodles are freshly made as the texture was different and it absorbed the broth it was soaked in. The soup was still steaming hot even after 30 mins!
We paid RM153 for this meal but it was worth it. I wished they had Uni (Sea Urchin) as I miss it very much. Thank You Hunny for bringing me to such a cosy restaurant!

Valentine's Dinner at Aoyama, Sri Hartamas
Hunny gave me 2 choices for V-Day celebrations...RM165 spent on a dozen roses bouquet and no nice meals vs. Nice food and no rose bouquet, I chose the latter. Luckily I did or I'd wouldn't have discovered such lovely yummy stuff to eat.
For dinner, Hunny brought me to his favorite Japanese restaurant in Sri Hartamas called The Green Room or Aoyama Japanese Restaurant. We didn't make reservations and hence were seated at the sushi bar. The sifus were working non stop rolling rice, slicing, shaping rice, seafood and various condiments to fulfil menu orders.
Fresh Octopus tentacles

Fresh Salmon...yummy!!!

Fresh Tuna

Other fresh seafoods

Hunny told me to keep quiet and let him do the ordering. Then he went ahead to order stuff that were priced based on seasonal prices and my eyes grew wider and wider as he ordered. Unfortunately, two things bugged me about this restaurant, they didn't serve my favourite Ikura (Salmon fish eggs) and they ran out of my favorite Uni (Sea Urchin).
Yummy Maguro (Tuna) with Foie Gras. This was unbelievable!!! So yummy...that I let out a gasp of delight as I bit into it. The outside of the tuna was seared but in the middle, it was still raw and hence very juicy! I first thought it was a beef cube as it tasted like beef! I had 3 pieces and Hunny had 1 piece. Priced at RM28.00

Hunny ordered a Special Soup for me. It came in this blue cup and it was a clear soup stock with the sweetness of dried mussel, fatty salmon, mushrooms, onions, tofu and leek. Really soothing and comforting. Priced at RM16.00

Next up, was the yummy soft shelled crab with tamago sushi. This again is a big winner! Pure soft shell crab without the annoying flour batter that I have eaten in other restaurants. As it was rather huge, Hunny taught me to bite off the ends first to enjoy the fresh sweetness of the soft shell crab and then pop the whole sushi in my mouth and let the different flavors and textures explode in my mouth. It was orgasmic as the crispiness of the soft shell crab and roasted seaweed mixed with the sweet tamago, the tangyness of the mayonnaise and stickiness of the sushi rice came together as I chewed away. I had 2 pieces and Hunny had 2 pieces. Priced at RM16.00

Salmon Skin Maki took some time to arrive. It was again a first time for me eating this sushi. It was very crunchy and the salmon skin had no oily aftertaste. However, I didn't enjoy this maki as much as I enjoyed the 1st two sushis. This was because of my personal preference as I found the skin too crunchy and I'd prefer it with more sesame seeds. I had 2 pieces and Hunny had 4 pieces. Priced at RM16.00

Of course Hunny wouldn't had have enough to eat if he just ate sushi. He ate a Saba Shio Bento Set as well. Priced at RM20.00

This whole meal came up to RM107.80 with 2 Green teas. My mouth misses the Maguro Foie Gras Sushi (actually it's called Maguro Hanabi Sushi) so much...nyams...beef tasting Tuna....

My Birthday Dinner at Nagomi, Jaya 33
Last nite, my hunny treated me to my 1st taste of Kobe Beef Shabu-Shabu at Nagomi, Jaya 33, Petaling Jaya. It was really suitable to have shabu-shabu last night as it was raining and cold. Shabu-Shabu is the Japanese version of Hot Pot or Steamboat. We had the set which came with 138 grams of kobe beef, mixed vegetables, special sauces and Nagomi Broth (Dashi Broth).
My Camera's battery died halfway as I didn't charge it after my Sg. Lembing Trip (will blog abt it later).
1. Nagomi's Menu
2. Daily Specials - 11.30am till 4.30am
3. Shabu-Shabu Set
4. Actual Set
5. How to cook...
6. Wow...the Kobe Beef so thinly sliced, so tender and yummy looking!!!
Fu-Yoh!!! Each thinly sliced beef to be rolled up first before dipping into the dashi broth... Delicious when swished for 15 seconds...letting it be cooked medium rare.
Thanks Hunny for bringing your Bunny to taste such luxury foods!!! This has been my yummiest birthday so far in my life!

Beef Sukiyaki at Kiku Zakura, Berjaya Times Square
Tonight, I had beef sukiyaki and iced green tea at Kiku Zakura, Berjaya Times Square.
For appetizer, they served unagi (eel) wrapped in beancurd skin.

The set comes with beef sukiyaki, salad, rice, pickles, miso soup and watermelon.

The beef sukiyaki was a generous portion in a salty sweet light based soup. There were about 10 to 15 slices of thinly sliced beef, spring onions, tofu, green vegetable (I don't know the name but in cantonese, we call it tong-po choy), mushroom, onion, carrot, konnyaku (a type of jelly) noodles and a raw egg that was added in that hot stone bowl of sukiyaki broth.

See...here are some of the stuff that was in the sukiyaki which I scooped out...

Everything was yummy as usual. The total damage done was RM31.05. Not bad for a healthy balanced meal.

Kiku Zakura - Part 1
Last night I had dinner at a branch of my favorite restaurant in Berjaya Times Square. The restaurant offers many value for money set. As I didn't feel like eating sushi or sashimi or tempura last night, I ordered one of the cheapest sets which was the Nabeyaki Udon with Gyoza Set.
Forgive me for the pictures being blur as I took these pictures with my Nokia 3500 Camera.
Hot Green Tea served in a Geisha inspired cup (RM3++) refillable.

Hot Green Tea with Appetizer

The Appetizer

The meddley of sauces to go with the food

Nabeyaki Udon with Gyoza Set (RM27++). The Set but I ate the Appetizer already.
This set comes with an appetizer which was chicken pieces fried with onions and bell peppers; a hot cast iron bowl (that can contain heat for longer periods of time) containing Udon (white flour Japanese noodles), loads of vegetables (carrot, leek, green onions, long cabbage, mushroom, and some vege that looks like crysanthemum leaves), some chicken slices ( I think they used thigh), a whole egg and a prawn tempura in a dashi (a type of fish stock that Japanese always use) broth.

A closer look. A complete meal that contains carbos, protein, vitamins, fiber.

I got eat my veggies for vitamins and fiber!

I also ate the chicken for protein

The Gyoza (steamed meat dumplings that are fried on the bottom side providing a light crunch to a soft top skin) with a chilli oil vinegar as a dip

Each Gyoza contains a whole prawn, minced chicken meat, chives, chopped chestnuts and bamboo shoots and tastes just right.

They made sure we had enough fruits and veggies to balance up. The set also comes with a coleslaw salad with thousand island dressing and 2 slices of sweet watermelon.

I cleared everything except for the coleslaw.

Yummy....

Service is really good here. My favourite branch would be the one in Mid Valley on the Cinema Floor. They have another branch in Avenue K, KL.
Total Damage done was RM34.50
