Chao Yen at 1U New Wing

Hunny and I went to this pricey establishment located at 1U's new wing where Giant Hypermarket used to be. This restaurant serves teochew cuisine and serves alot of dishes be it ala carte or individual meals.

1. Hunny's Pork Intestine White Pepper Soup with Mee Suah. RM17.90

2. My Teochew porridge with scallops, dried oyster, vege and pork meat balls. This type of porridge is different from the cantonese style of cooking as it's like rice with soup. Cantonese styled porridge is rice that has been boiled for a few hours till it breaks down. The bowl came was very big..recommended for 2 person to share so that you can try more dishes. RM19.90

3. See my bowl of yummy goodness...clear and not oily at all. Sweet soup stock. Very hearty and tummy warming.

4. Yummy cold platter...with meat encased in gelatin, stewed pig ears and jellyfish marinated with sesame oil. Very Yummy! I love the gelatinuous bits with melt in mouth texture that bore traces of fermented beancurd (fu-yee in cantonese). Much better than Dragon-i's version. This is my 1st time eating pig's ear and it's so yummy. Tender yet crunchy.

5. So yummy the sesame oil infused jellyfish strips. Crunchy and delicious.

The total bill came up to RM76.00 for the 2 of us. Pricey. We will reserve this restaurant for future occasional treats.

Peel Road's Famous Delights

Hunny brought me to eat lovely Satay and Ah Wah Grilled Chicken wings for dinner last night at Restaurant Queens. We also had fresh sugarcane and coconut, hokkien bihun, chinese salty nasi lemak, satay and chicken wings.

1. 4 chicken wings for RM7.50;

2. Hokkien Bihun for RM6 and the prawns were big, sweet and fresh but otherwise pretty tasteless as the noodles lack the "wok hei"

3. Sambal to go with the Hokkien Bihun

4. Nasi Lemak with Sambal Ikan Bilis, Chicken Curry, Curry potatoes, Luncheon Meat and Long beans was RM5.50 but it was abit too salty for my liking.

5. Satay was RM0.60 per stick and the peanut sauce was so so yummy..thick and peanuty

6. The Famous Ah Wah Grilled Chicken Wings Stall

7. Manyak Chicken Wings

8. Tengah Grilling

9. The Busy Satay Stall

10. Hot Fire flaming and the satay are being cooked.

Sugarcane and coconut juice was RM1.50 per glass.Very cool and refreshing with no additional syrup. When you are there, I recommend that you sit outside so that you can order food from the non-halal stalls outside. The inside restaurant only caters for halal eaters.

We over ordered this round and ended up take away the satay. The satay today when reheated was still yummy. The peanut sauce and the succulent chicken pieces are indeed going to make it a repeat visit to this restaurant. However, Hunny and I would prefer if we go with other friends in order to enjoy the food more.

I would certainly want to visit this place again as they food is really yummy and my fellow shutterasia.com members also recommended the mixed part beef noodles and mutton soup are also very yummy.

Bak Kut Teh at Kampung Subang Baru

Yesterday Hunny brought me to eat Bak Kut Teh at Kampung Subang Baru. He was supposed to drive to Klang for our usual BKT but he had a headache and thus brought me to this restaurant instead. I am glad that he did so as the herbal soup was not oily at all! It came in a mixture of meat, ribs and spare parts. Nyam Nyam!

1. Claypot of non-oiliness herbal soup goodness

2. Rice with Pork Intestines. Nicely cleaned intestines

3. With an added piece of Pig tummy...tender yet chewy...just nice~

4. Sabah Vege to balance up the meal

The meal cost us RM23 with 1 claypot BKT (meat, spare ribs, fried beancurd puffs, button mushrooms, Intestines and Tummy), 2 rice and 2 chinese teas.

Haruki

This is a non-food post. Haruki is my sister's yellow labrador who is such a naughty bundle of cheekiness which somehow can't make us angry with him for long. He is 5 months old to date and is quite big already. I remember that he used to be the same size as my 14" notebook.

Usually, he's so active but today he was willing to pose for photo...

Haruki totally engrossed in chewing a bone

Cute, hor?

Last Night's Dinner

I apologize to my readers over the long absence of blogging. I haven't been eating anything new and interesting lately. Anyway, I have updated on some of my eats during December 08.

This is something I steamed last night for dinner. A low fat healthy meal of tofu, cod fish and choy sum (a type of leafy green vege. Does anyone know the english name for it?)

Really Healthy but I think next time half portion of tofu will be good enough.

Hi-Tea at Le Meridien Hotel

Last Dec, Winnie and the girls decided (including myself) decided to meet up for Hi-Tea at Le-Meridien as Winnie was holding the Starwood Privileged Card. It turns out that the Hi-Tea isn't covered by the Starwood Card. We met up at the Conservatory of Le-Meridien and we were given 2 choices ... "This" and "That" that offered dainty bite-sized pieces of various selections.

1. I chose "That" Set.

2. This is how my set looked like...

3. The Top Tier of Savouries

4. The bottom tier of Sweets

5. The Green Tea Soba ... ok tasting

6. The strange tasting salty jelly

7. The sauce reminded me of otak otak

8. The Beef cheeks were very tender

9. Clotted Cream, Jams and Butter for the scones. No pictures of the scones as my pictures didn't turn out nice

10. Red Bean and Green Tea Combination was really weird...I didn't like it...

11. Bakhlava

12. This was like a swiss roll with a jammy center and rolled in cereal flakes

13. Chocolate Tart with Jam topping and creamy base

14. Cheesecake

Overall, I didn't enjoy eating here as I prefer a buffet and if I have to eat something like this, I will prefer Carcosa's English Hi-Tea Set as it's much tastier, not so complex and the environment befits the occassion. Luckily the gang of gals made up for the disappointing food. We had a blast talking about girly stuff.

Nanxiang Steamed Dumplings

We ate here sometime last year.

Hunny and I ate at this pricey establishment in The Curve as they taste much better than the dragon-i Restaurant upstairs.

This is what we had...

1. Pickled cucumbers with garlic and chillies

2. Seafood fried La-Mian

3. Herbal Chicken Soup Noodles. The noodles came in a separate bowl and the chicken soup came in a mini pot and tasted nice and herbally. The noodles were salted and when the soup poured over it and it was just nice.

4. Steamed soupy dumpling. I remember the skin was a bit too thick.

5. Dessert - Longan with snow fungus

The bill came up to about RM70 for the 2 of us.
